Programs
August: Jeanne Seagle: "Who Do You
Think You Are?", a collection of little
stories about several contemporary
working artists.
September: AL member Dave
Masterson: a digital camera workshop.
October: photographer Lauren Beyer:
ʻTrains of Souls” graffiti on walls and
trains.
November: AL member Ann Moore,
sculptor, on her work

Member Accomplishments
Member Jim Blythe won second prize in a
contest held by Nashville Arts Magazine. He
received a $300 gift certificate at a photography
store. The top twenty-five winners where
displayed in an exhibition at the Renaissance
Center in Dickson, TN. Member Sia Shahriari got
two pieces into the competition and Kaveh Safa
got one in.
Downtown Presbyterian office/gallery at 502 S.
Main is site of an exhibition by seven Artists' Link
members (Fred Asbury, Marilyn Califf, Kristi
Duckworth, Karen Francis, Patty Simon, Sue
S. Miller, and David Taylor). Opening was May
27, just in time for the South Main Art Walk.
Bill Branch won the Second Place award in the
painting division at the Arkansas Heritage Month
Art Competition in Helena, Arkansas.

On Saturday, June 4, 2011, Bill Branch
curated his second show at the Delta Cultural
Center in Helena, Arkansas: Collaborations:
Two Decades of African American Art - Hearne
Fine Art Gallery 1988 – 2008. The exhibit will
continue until September 23, 2011 and
consists of the works of 57 artists who have
been represented by the Hearne Fine Art
Gallery in Little Rock, Arkansas. Many of these
artists have Arkansas ties, but some are from
Memphis. www.deltaculturalcenter.com.
Artists Link summer party at Gail and Steve
Buckman's was a hit once again. Surprise
raffle of beautiful photographs by Fred Asbury
and gifts from the Taylors.
Fred Asburyʼs portfolio of three photographs
was accepted into the “Art Takes London
International Juried Competition”. There will be
an exhibigtion in London and ten to 20
thousand attendees are expected. The works
will be published and there will be an interent
gallery. The works can be viewed at
www.arttakeslondon.com/Fredasbury. Fred
also has a gallery on the OvationTV Network

Along with his wife Patty Simon, they continue
their neighborhood art gallery outside their
home in Bartlett and have met neighbors and
made friends in the process.
Phyllis Boger and Norman Soskel and
past president of Artists Link and
MGAL member, Connie Graysonʼs
show at the Botanic Gardens opened
on July 7th. Brenda Wiseman and Zoe
Nadel are also in the show, which
remains up until the end of July.
Ann Moore is represented by Artreach
Gallery, 2075 Exeter Road, Suite 40 and
had an opening June 25. She
demonstrated bas-relief portrait process
and a new line of art jewelry based on
her photographs.
Annabelle Meacham has two pieces in
the summer show at L. Ross Gallery,
July 1 to 30. Opening reception was
July 8. She also taught classes at an
“enrichment program” for children in the
rural Mississippi Gravel Springs area.
Lauren Beyer sold one piece at the
Memphis Germantown Art League
Spring Show. She also had a show
opening July 9 at the Bank of Ripley and
sold a print of “Tomatoes” in the Ripley
Tomato Festival. She has a collective
reception at Trezevant Manor July 17
(continues showing until September).
Upcoming Shows / Events
Lauren Beyer at Kirby Wines & Liquors
will have an artist reception Saturday,
July 30th 1-4 pm for works on display
through September 30th. She will have a
solo show at WKNO Gallery Ten Ninety
One with opening reception. Saturday,
August 6th 2-4 pm on display through
August 30th. Lauren also will have a
collective reception at the
Memphis Jewish Community Center
Sunday, August 14th 2-4 pm on display
through September 5th.

Buckman and Terry Kenney are having
an opening ("6 New Artists & 6 Fine
Wines") at Fountain Art Gallery in
Chickasaw Oaks Village (3092 Poplar) on
Friday, Aug. 5th from 6-8 pm.
Bill Bailey won' Best of Show' in the
recent Tennessee Art League 'Central
South Art Exhibition' in Nashville; The
ʻWinslow Homer Special Merit Award' in
the current Transparent Watercolor of
America Exhibition in Kenosha WS; The
'Potomac Valley Watercolorists Award' in
the recent Southern Watercolor Society
Exhibition in Greenville NC.
Mahaffey White, friend to Saj Crone and
other Memphis
artists, celebrated
her 100th birthday
on July 12th, with a
party of hundreds
at the Parish Hall at
St. John's Church.
She helped to
establish the art
department at
Shelby State
College.
Judith Barrie, Shira and Norman Soskel
will have an art show ʻMelange – a family
collectionʼ at WKNO Gallery Ten Ninety One
during September 2011; Opening reception
will be September 8, 5-7:30PM.
Saj Crone will have a show “Sylvan Joy” at
the Sam Ross Gallery at Christian Brothers
University, opening reception October 21
5:30-7:30 PM.The show will be up until
December 9, 2011.
Constance Grayson will have a show “Holy
Lutes” in the foyer outside the Sam Ross
Gallery at Christian Brothers University,
opening reception October 21 5:30-:30PM.
The show will be up until December 9, 2011.
Jeanne Seagle will have a solo exhibit of
her art at the Delta Cultural Center (where
Bill Branch works) starting in November,
2011 which will carry over into 2012.

About Our Organization…
Artistsʼ Link, formed in April 1989, is an all-volunteer organization created as a resource and support group for
Memphis Area visual artists and as a link between artists and the community. In addition to sponsoring public
forums, exhibitions, lectures and other activities, the group holds free public monthly meetings.
Single membership dues are $30 per year ($40 per couple), payable in March.

Artistsʼ Link meetings are held at Jasonʼs Deli at Poplar and Highland behind Perkins Restaurant at 6:30 p.m If
you wish, you may get there early around 5:00 PM and have dinner with your friends. Soft drinks and coffee will
be available at the meeting.
Our next meetings will occur on August 15 and September 19 at Jasonʼs Deli. The
deadline to get information into the next newsletter is July 15.
FLASH!! Donʼt forget breakfast at Holiday Deli every Thursday morning from about
8:30 AM until… Itʼs a great time to socialize with fellow Artistsʼ Link members and have
a great home-cooked breakfast. Itʼs located at Deli 585 Erin Drive. Show and tell
items are welcome.

Please format your text in Helvetica Font size
10, use black only, do not add additional
paragraph spacing, do not include ads copied
directly with various fonts, sizes, spacing or
bold. If your name is included please place
that in bold. You may include images if
necessary for your submission. If you can,
keep your images to approximately 72 to150
dpi and 500 x 500 pixels or less. This
conformity will help me construct the
