Schedule of Upcoming Meeting Programs:

Meetings will be at Jasonʼs Deli – Poplar and
Highland.

Holiday Party Gift Exchange – remember that this year we will be exchanging art, approximately 5 x 7 in or smaller, wrapped. Itʼs not too early to start making your piece. Date: December 6. Time: 6 PM – 9 PM. Meal served at 6:30 PM. Place: Audubon Square Clubhouse, entrance from Crossover Lane. Bring your favorite dish and your drink. The meat will be provided.

Opportunity for members to display their art: Samuels Furniture will begin showing and selling
art in their three locations. Artwork will be selected by Lesley Samuels Marks, Karen Pennington or Laurie Samuels. Call one of them at 761-4998 or call

Mark Young of The Frame Corner (5056 Park
Avenue, 901 682 9901) has invited Artistʼs Link
members to submit work for possible hanging in the
store.

Member Awards / Accomplishments

Phyllis Boger taught a resist painting and batik on silk and cotton workshop at the Memphis Botanic gardens 11/9/2009.

Bill Branch was juried into the Saint Georgeʼs Independent School Arts Alliance Fine Art Show and Sale to be held January 30, 2009.

Artsitsʼ Link members participating in the Wolf River Conservancy Gala and Art Auction December 5, 2009 at Askew, Nixon, Ferguson Architects 1500
Union, include Phyllis Boger, Bill Branch, Saj
Crone and Jean Moss. There is a preview opportunity the week before, Dec 3, no charge, 6-
8PM. The gala reception is Dec 5, $50/person.

Karen Francis has pieces at The Edge Coffeehouse (1400 Overton Park Avenue at Watkins) and Samuelʼs Furniture on Poplar at Yates.

Jim Blythe gave a lecture about capturing cross- cultural experiences in photography, Nov. 18 at the University of Memphis.

Artistsʼ Linkʼs show “Artistsʼ Link Goes Green is still up at CBU. An article was posted in
Downtowner Magazine and featured Sharon Grinspanʼs “Blessed are Lost Objects.”

On October 29 the Commercial Appeal had an
article about S. Kaye Harrison and Miriam Crotwell plein aire painting during the DeSoto Arts
Council event.

On October 30 the Commercial Appeal had an article about Jeanne Seagle and her presentation
at the Artistsʼ Link meeting.

Artistsʼ Link upcoming meeting with talk by Tom Donahue was featured in the Commercial Appeal
on November 20,2009.

Artistsʼ Link members Bill Branch and Jenny Miller painted at Elmwood Cemetery.

S. Kaye Harrison and Miriam Crotwell were featured in the Commercial Appeal while plein air
painting during the DeSoto Arts Council event.

Jeanne Reynolds had a show/sale “Sensory Treasures II”, October 30, 2009 at 2474 Sam
Cooper Boulevard, sponsored by Splash. Workshops / Classes
Jane Croy will teach a short course in marketing art at Hobby Lobby 12/4 from 10AM-12N.

John Sosh won the Photo identity award for correctly identifying last newsletterʼs photo as a spiderʼs head. See the last page of this newsletter for the latest photo to identify. Winner to be announced at Holiday Party.

About Our Organization...
Artistsʼ Link, formed in April 1989, is an all-volunteer organization created as a resource and support group for Memphis Area visual artists and as a link between artists and the community. In addition to sponsoring public forums, exhibitions, lectures and other activities, the group holds free public monthly meetings.
Single membership dues are $30 per year ($40 per couple), payable in September.

Artistsʼ Link meetings are held at Jasonʼs Deli at Park and Perkins at 6:30 p.m If you wish, you may get there early around 5:00 PM and have dinner with your friends. Soft drinks and coffee will be available at the meeting.
Our next meetings will occur on January 18, 2010. The holiday party December 6 will take the place of the December meeting. A more detailed schedule is on page one of this newsletter.
