Joanne Berg

Featured Picture:

Joanne Berg’s art reflects her love of landscape and the wondrous colors of nature and the seasons. She enjoys painting outside whenever possible, capturing the essence of her subject through the interplay of color, texture and light and shadow. She views each of her paintings as a new journey leading her into previously unknown territory and while the adventure may be difficult, it is always rewarding. Joanne’s fondness for the land began as a child during Sunday drives with her family through the countryside of upstate New York. Family vacations, taken before the construction of the interstate system, involved motoring through small towns and scenic areas of the Northeast. Her father, a country lawyer and inveterate gardener, instilled in her an appreciation of nature and its silent wonders. Her subsequent travels to other regions of the US and to Europe have deepened this appreciation.

After time spent working in commercial interior design and raising her family, she took up her painting again in 1998 while living in Connecticut, taking courses in painting at the Silvermine School of Art and Wooster Community Art Center. She was a member of the Ridgefield Guild of Artists and the Comstock Group. She has been in a number of multi-artist exhibitions, showing and selling her paintings and hooked rugs. She is currently a member of the Fountain Gallery of Art, a multi-artist gallery located in Memphis, TN.
